Good Morning Mr. Hooten,
I work with the Planetary Society (Bill Nye the Science Guy is our Director) and we are hosting Planetfest during the weekend of August 4 & 5 to celebrate the landing of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Curiosity rover. We would like to invite your school to join us in this celebration by hosting a local event and I was hoping you could help point me in the right direction for who to speak with. We are especially interested in reaching out to students and giving them an opportunity to ask Bill, ex-astronauts, and other special guests questions during the event. Exciting!
Our goal is to partner with the best space/science related groups around the world to create Planetfest viewing parties and use our brand to promote your work to our networks. We anticipate sharing video feeds of the activities at our Planetfest® 2012 and perhaps setting up a video feed to our Civic Center venue in Pasadena so that people everywhere can greet each other and share the excitement. There will also be tons of ways to participate via social media and ask questions/engage with our panel speakers and special guests (including former astronauts, authors, Bill Nye, and more). If you would like to submit a pre-recorded video of your organization, or a video question from a student to one of our keynote speakers, we would be happy to air this during our live broadcast that thousands will be tuning in to.
We are open to include all events large and small to join us. If a local event at your venue is not possible, perhaps your organization could help share the information about Planetfest online and via social media. We are open to new ideas and part of our goal is to promote you! Our members around the world agree that Curiosity is a remarkable mission, one that will help us take the next step in the search for life on another world.
If this sounds like something you're interested in, please let me know who I may speak to help coordinate a Planetfest event.
I look forward to hearing from you!
