Next Tuesday, Jan 10, beginning at 6:30pm, Dr. Phil Plait will be speaking about his book “Death From The Skies” at the new Center for Earth & Space Science Education at Tyler Junior College.  Tickets are $20 and are available at the door or online at http://www.tjc.edu/cesse/ 

 

Dr. Phil Plait, the “Bad Astronomer,” is an internationally renowned astronomer, author (Bad Astronomy and Death From

the Skies), lecturer, and blogger best known for his endeavors in clearing up public misconceptions about astronomy and space science as portrayed in movies, the news, print and on the internet. He received his Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Virginia in 1984. Not only did he spend 10 years working on the Hubble Space Telescope, but Dr. Plait also spent six more years working on NASA-sponsored public outreach programs at Sonoma State University. He is a frequent guest on many science radio and TV shows and is the science consultant for the film Black Holes:The Other Side of Infinity, an intriguing look into the facts and theory surrounding mysterious black holes in space. Black Holes is presently showing at the Center for Earth & Space Science Education at TJC.
